Concert Day

I’m adding some photos here that Aaron took yesterday but we were too tired to transfer them over last night

A very wet walk
Waffles and Dinges (toppings) at Bryant Park in the downpour.

In the theater.
We walked to the hotel from Radio City in the rain and were soaked when we got there and oh so tired after being up almost 24 hours. And we got in a few steps and miles.
25,590 steps
10.6 miles
6 floors
Walked to Ess-a-bagel to get breakfast this morning but the line was all the way down the block to get in the door. I waited about 15 minutes and the line didn’t move so I walked back to the hotel. It rained off and on all night and was still raining this morning.
Amy’s Bread was plan B for breakfast. Cheese biscuits, gingerbread muffin and quiche. Wanted to wait out the rain but it just wasn’t letting up.

We tried to duplicate some photos from 10 years ago when Bailyn was here but things have changed a bit since then. There’s no train anymore but we have giant red Christmas ornaments.

She’s not quite as sassy as she used to be.

She’s a little bit taller too 😁.

Going into the MLB store.

We spent some time in St. Patrick’s cathedral. Bailyn really enjoyed it and wanted to walk through twice. It’s just such a beautiful church. She took the inside pictures.
The Plaza Hotel (Home Alone)
In front of the Plaza.
Another view of the Plaza
We wandered through Central Park.

Some photos I took without her knowing.
And some she knew I was taking

Sky was starting to clear but it was cold and windy.

Jo Anne I finally had my lobster roll (sans roll). It wasn’t so good.
Three tiny cupcakes from Baked by Melissa.
Bailyn’s only request for food while in NY was pizza.

Went into a local market so Bailyn could see how different it is from our huge supermarkets. Just a few olives.
And we have arrived at the concert.

Another incredibly beautiful theater.

You would think we’re the only ones here but it was pretty much sold out. Slightly bedraggled from the rainy day.

The concert was amazing. She has such an amazing voice and such a message to her songs.

Another day with many miles and steps and stairs.
25,867 steps
11.6 miles
14 floors

“For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
– Matthew 11:30

A yoke is a large wooden crossbar placed over an animal’s neck and connected to another animal. When in training, a new ox is yoked to a large, seasoned one who will actually bear most of the weight. Only if the new ox submits to the yoke and learns to walk in step with the older one will its yoke be easy and burden light and even restful. Otherwise, the younger ox will lacerate its neck by resisting; it will be restless.

The truth is that we are all already yoked to other things that we treat as idols. That’s why we’re driven, burdened, and restless.

Jesus alone offers a better way. Join the cascading chorus of the rested and dependent with this prayer: “Lord, I cast my cares on You and assume Your yoke. Teach me to keep pace with You and rest in Your strength.”

  1. I hate you’ve had to deal with such wet weather. Looks like y’all are making the best of it though.
I must say your version of the lobster roll didn’t look all that appetizing.
